The renowned publisher has welcomed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Leadership Transition Comes After Lukewarm Response

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified staff about this decision through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the need for a more defined vision.

Ismailer stated that the team is now overhauling the project with a renewed approach, aiming to address gamer demands.

Trend of Key Recruitment

This announcement mirrors a comparable action taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the entire text from the president's communication:

Hello Everyone—

I know you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and creative developers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to continue.”

Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our players.

The belief in this project strengthens every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the latest Studio Head of the team. Following several months of conversations, he comes aboard us on next week.

Ben’s management and background in the PVP shooter space is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and overseeing some of the most popular titles in gaming, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.

Please join me in greeting Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist observing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to ahead.

David

Game Information and Vision

Project Ethos was announced in last year in conjunction with a public demo. Initially, 31st Union presented the title as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an exciting step forward on the style."

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the game's pitch reads. "Take on the opponents with new abilities, challenges, and obstacles that change every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your hard-earned loot? Alternatively take a risk, put it on the line, and hope your team can earn top ranking? The choice is in your hands."

The game has not yet received an confirmed release date or platforms, but fans can expect further news as production progresses.
